Flour Burglars Make Off with Undisclosed Amount of 'Dough'

A safe was taken from the popular Washington Street bakery Sunday night, according to police.

Three males wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark jackets forced their way into the South End’s at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Two of the males then entered the Washington Street bakery, which was closed and unoccupied, and stole a safe from the manager’s office, police said. The third fled down Rutland Street after entry was gained.

Police and the bakery’s manager responded to the scene, 1595 Washington St., at about 9:42 a.m., after an alarm sounded.

Security footage shows the three males outside the bakery before the incident, according to police. The two males who entered the bakery also left down Rutland Street, one with the safe, police said.

The males allegedly used a screwdriver to remove the safe from the office floor.

Flour’s owner told police Sunday night that she did not immediately know how much money was in the safe. She was planning to give detectives security footage from inside the bakery Monday morning.
