Keogh, an attorney and new dad, is the only at-large candidate running from the Parkway area, seeking to fill the seat vacated by Councilor John Connolly’s run for Mayor of Boston.  Martin, his wife Pamela and their son Nolan reside in West Roxbury and are lifelong residents of Boston.

Keogh, a product of the Boston Public Schools, plans to focus his campaign on public safety and creating more jobs, but, particularly, on strengthening the public schools by offering more school choice, decreasing the drop-out rate and bringing arts, sports and music back as required after-school extra-curricular activities.

Keogh believes that the educational goals of the school department are on track, but that there is a serious void in diversifying the recreational/educational activities for students.

Expanded police patrols in Boston’s neighborhoods, arts, music and sports in every public school and better city services, particularly snow and trash removal, are on the Keogh’s campaign agenda.

“It’s pretty simple,” Keogh said, “If we give kids something more to do after school, something that they will enjoy doing - and not just homework, they, and their parents, will stay in that school, and stay involved in that school.  This will not only strengthen the school, but the entire community. But that is never going to happen unless we offer more choice, offer more sports, arts and music.”

“If I am elected, you can guarantee that I will fight to make the city we love a better, safer place to live” Keogh concluded.
