Filling in where 33 Restaurant used to stand on Stanhope Street between the Back Bay and South End is The Brahmin American Cuisine & Cocktails, joining relative newcomer Red Lantern (which we reviewed back in July) in an area that's enjoying a renewed vigor. Gone is the overtly Euro décor of 33 Restaurant – in place of the white Lucite bar and brightly colored lighting is a distinctly warmer, more familial vibe. Welcoming red leather booths and mismatched wooden tables stand out charmingly against exposed brick walls, and old-world touches like framed silhouettes, yellowed shapshots, and antique knick-knacks dot the expansive space.
