Things to Know in the South End Today, March 5: Calling All Foodies

Here's what's happening in the neighborhood today.

1. Taste of the South End: Expect to see South End favorites like Myers & Chang, Hamersly's Bistro, Tremont 647,Aquitaine, B&G Oysters and other neighborhood favorites at the annual Taste of the South End at Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts. 2. Street Sweeping Starting: It's time to sign up for No Tow alerts again, because street sweeping has begun in the South End again as of March 1st. The South End is again part of an expanded sweeping program that includes the months of March and December, weather conditions permitting. See here for more information.  NOTE: Due to weather, street sweeping has been postponed for this week, until March 11th.  3. Attention Foodies: 'Taste of the South End' To Return in March

The annual fundraiser for the AIDS Action Committee will feature 43 different South End restaurants, wine, beer, cocktails, prizes and more.

Preparations are already underway for one of the food-enthusiasts of the South End's biggest events: Taste of the South End. The large-scale event is an annual fundraiser for the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts. This year's event, to be held on March 5, 2013, at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts, will feature 43 different South End restuarants and includes food, wine, beer, cocktails, prizes and more.  Expect to see South End favorites like Myers & Chang, Hamersly's Bistro, Tremont 647, Aquitaine, B&G Oysters and other neighborhood favorites preparing unlimited food and wine samples. For your ticket price of $100, you get unlimited food and wine from the restaurants, who all set up right there on scene.  Organizer …

1. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s today. Thank you Mother Nature. 2. The Taste of the South End event Tuesday night at the Boston Center for the Arts’ Cyclorama sold out, as area foodies swamped the center to try samples from more than 40 neighborhood chefs. The annual event also featured live cooking demonstrations, a silent auction and, of course, beer and wine tastings. Proceeds from the event benefit the AIDS Action Committee (AAC), New England’s oldest and largest AIDS service organization.
