Man Wanted in Tremont Street Murder Arrested on Tuesday

Boston Police arrested David Yarde, 22, of Mattapan in connection with the shooting death of Deandre Russ, 22, of Boston.

Boston Police believe they have found the man responsible for the shooting death of a 22-year-old Boston resident in the South End late last month.  On Tuesday, November 20, 2012, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit located and arrested David Yarde, 22, of Mattapan in connection with the shooting death of Deandre Russ, 22, of Boston.  Yarde will be charged with murder and was arraigned on Tuesday in Roxbury District Court. He was held without bail and will return to court on January 9. Less than a month ago, on Sunday, October 28, 2012, Boston Police officers responded to a radio call for shot spotter activation in the area of 1050 Tremont Street in the South End. Man Charged in South End Murder Not Freed by JP Drug Lab Scandal

Anthony Thames, 28, who was charged with murdering a Boston man in the South End last August, will remain held without bail, despite a separate drugs case against him that was handled by disgraced chemist Annie Dookhan.

A man charged with murdering a Boston man on a South End street corner last summer appeared in court on Monday because a separate drugs charge against him was handled by the chemist responsible for the state drug lab scandal.  However, his case was not touched by the judge.  Anthony Thames, 28, was charged with first degree murder and firearm possession last year in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Raymond Lemar near the intersection of East Berkeley and Harrison Avenue last August.  Shortly after his arrest on that offense, Thames pleaded guilty to several drug charges, including distribution of cocaine. Victim Identified, New Info in Herald Story

Mohamed Hassan, 21, of Boston, was shot to death Sunday night in Blackstone Square, according to police.

On Tuesday afternoon, Boston Police identified 21-year-old Mohamed Hassan, of Boston, as the victim of Sunday’s fatal shooting in Blackstone Square. Hassan, who reportedly lived in the South End’s Villa Victoria development on Tremont Street, also went by “Hum Greazy” or “Humz,” names he recorded hip-hop music under, according to friends. Hassan was shot to death at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the park. Police Identify Victim of Sunday's Fatal Shooting

Mohamed Hassan, 21, of Boston, was shot to death in Blackstone Square Sunday night, according to police.

Boston Police have identified 21-year-old Mohamed Hassan, of Boston, as the victim of Sunday's fatal shooting in Blackstone Square. Hassan also went by "Hum Greazy" or "Humz," a name he recorded hip-hop music under, according to friends. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives at 617-343-4470. Details Emerge Surrounding Sunday's Fatal Shooting in Blackstone Square

The 21-year-old victim went by 'Humz' or 'Hum Greazy' and lived in the Villa Victoria development on Tremont Street. A makeshift memorial was set up in the park for him Monday.

A bouquet of red roses, a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap and a number of candles surrounded a tree near the center of Blackstone Square Monday afternoon, as more than 20 people were gathered to remember the 21-year-old Villa Victoria resident who was shot to death in the park the previous night. The items sat below a few bundles of black-and-yellow balloons, a big red heart-shaped balloon with the words, “I love you,” and messages and photographs of the deceased, which were posted to the tree. Police: Man Shot to Death in Blackstone Square Sunday Night

The fatal shooting is under investigation, according to police.

A 21-year-old man was shot to death in Blackstone Square at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Boston Police. The man was shot once in the face, a police officer on scene told the Boston Globe. He was pronounced dead on scene, police said. At about 11 p.m. Sunday, the man’s body was still near the center of the park, between a fountain and a swing set, according to the Globe report. Police have the fatal shooting occurring at 423 Shawmut Ave., an address across the street from the park. However, multiple Twitter reports have the shooting actually in Blackstone Square.
