2007 Abbona Papa Celso Dolcetto di Dogliani Full disclosure up front: I am an Italian wine lover of the first degree. So when Colin Quinn of The Wine Emporium motioned me over to try a few Italian wines he was featuring in a recent tasting, my arm wasn't exactly bruised. Grown in Italy's hilly Piedmont region, the 2007 Abbona Papa Celso Dolcetto di Dogliani is a clear standout Dolcetto, with rich dark berry up front, well-balanced tannins and a wonderful round and lingering finish. Colin, who is a veritable Wiki entry on this wine, (just don't ask him to pronounce it correctly in Italian), informed me that the Papa Celso Dolcetto is produced from 65-year old vines grown at 1,200 feet.
