Five Things

Five Things: $25 to South End Buttery On the Table

Today is Monday, Dec. 19. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The sun should be shining bright today, but temperatures are still only expected to reach the low 40s. The rest of the week looks pretty much the same, except for some possible rain showers on Wednesday. As of now, it’s not looking like it’ll be a white Christmas this year. 2. Share a shopping tip with other Patch readers this week, and you could win a $25 gift certificate to the South End Buttery. All you need to do is post your tip as a comment on our “Shopping Tip Contest” story by noon Thursday. The winner, who will be selected at random, will be revealed Friday morning, along with all of your other tips. 3. Five Things

Five Things: City Residents Given Chance to Skate at Fenway

Today is Wednesday, Dec. 14. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. It should be partly cloudy today, with temperatures in the mid 40s. The overnight low is 33 degrees. 2. City of Boston residents will have a chance to ice skate inside Fenway Park for free this winter. The city is giving away the tickets from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday on a first-come, first-serve basis at 16 locations throughout the city, including the Blackstone Community Center in the South End. If interested, make sure you read the full rules – such as the proof of residency requirements – before heading down. 3. The Dunkin’ Donuts proposal for 655 Tremont St. …

Preview: Shop, Dine Local Wednesday

Local South End businesses will have deals from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Local South End retailers and restaurant owners are teaming up Wednesday, Dec. 14, for a night of deals. The South End Holiday Night Out, now in its fourth year, will run from 4 to 8 p.m. During that time, more than 30 locally-owned shops in the South End will be offering 15 to 20 percent off almost all merchandise, while a handful of participating restaurants will have special prix fixe options all night. The night was started as a way to reward South End shoppers and as a way to help local South End businesses support each other, according to M. Flynn Accessories’ Megan Flynn, who organizes the night with her sister. “Retailers in our area are really spread out – we’re not as compact as the North End or Beacon Hill,” she said, “so it’s …

Dining Discount Site Launches in Boston

A dining discount site serving major cities nation-wide, Savored.com recently launched its Boston subsite.

Savored is an old venture with a new name, and it has officially arrived in Boston. A dining discount site serving major cities nation-wide, Savored recently launched its Boston subsite, and offers bookings for four South End restaurants that appeal to a variety of palettes - Noche (Latin Fusion), Sibling Rivalry (American), Petit Robert Bistro (French) and Da Vinci Ristorante (Italian). There will surely be more additions as business in Boston picks up and restaurants catch on. Formerly known as VillageVines, Savored.com has rebranded and expanded, and, dare I say it, gotten a much classier upgrade. Like the incredibly popular Groupon and LivingSocial sites, Savored offers major discounts for dining out, but there’s a twist. Unlike with …
