Boston to Cape Train Planned for Next Summer

The Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority will oversee the CapeFLYER service, which will launch Memorial Day weekend.

Residents of Boston will be able to get to Cape Cod without a car next summer. The Cape Cod Transit Authority this week announced the creation of the CapeFLYER service, which will launch Memorial Day weekend 2013. The service will feature five total trains per weekend running between South Station and Hyannis: one outgoing train Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday morning and one incoming train Saturday night and Sunday night, according to Tom Cahir, CCRTA administrator. Cahir said CCRTA anticipates 2,000 people per weekend will use the service. The service will follow the MBTA commuter rail’s Lakeville/Middleborough “Old Colony” line plus two additional stops: Buzzard’s Bay and Hyannis, Cahir said. Buses will be in place to get …
