The hospital said on Saturday that five patients may have been exposed to Hepatitis B while they were treated at the hospital.
Up to five patients at Boston Medical Center may have been exposed to the Hepatitis B virus while they received treatment at the hospital, according to the Boston Globe. “Recently, we became aware that a small number of patients were potentially exposed to (the) Hepatitis B virus and five patients are potentially at risk from the exposure,” BMC spokeswoman Jennifer Watson told the Globe. “We have communicated with these patients and are monitoring them closely. Additional measures have been put in place to avoid the possibility of a similar exposure in the future.” Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening virus that attacks the liver. A South Boston man was arrested for trespassing, yelling and swearing at Boston Medical Center on Wednesday.
A Boston man was arrested for trespassing, then causing a scene at Boston Medical Center on Wednesday. Boston Police responded Boston Medical Center for a report of a person refusing to leave the premises after being asked to leave multiple times on December 5 at about 7:30 p.m. When police arrived, they said they told the man that he would have to leave the property or he would be charged with trespassing. The man reportedly started yelling at that time, refusing to leave. Officers reported that he began cursing and began swinging his arms in a threatening manner. Despite being shackled to a hospital bed, a prisoner who was being treated at Boston Medical Center Sunday night assaulted the two Boston Police officers guarding him, sending one of them to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with a head injury, according to police. The prisoner, who has hepatitis C, also tried to steal one of the officer’s guns and spat at the officers, police said. He had been arrested on an armed robbery warrant Friday and was taken to the hospital at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after suffering a seizure. The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
