For the unaware, a fez was the traditional hat of the Ottoman Empire before it fell. The Red Fez restaurant had a similar trajectory, as it originally opened in 1940 as a family restaurant, and then closed in 1980. In 2002, it re-opened as a more chic, Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and bar. Among the favorites are the restaurant's assortments of mezze (tapas/appetizers), and an interesting drink and wine selection.
