This small, shaded park honors African-American abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who helped more than 70 slaves gain freedom using the Underground Railroad.

A 10-foot bronze sculpture of Tubman stands at the park's western entrance, backed by a granite map of the Underground Railroad. The sculpture, unveiled in 1999, was created by Dorchester artist Fern Cunningham. A second sculpture entitled "Emancipation" stands at the center of the park.
