Summer Weekend Getaway: JawsFest, Reggae, and OysterFest

Looking for a fast and fun getaway from the South End this weekend? Summer in New England is filled with options. Check out what's happening this weekend in a few favorite summer spots:

Cape Cod and the Islands

You're going to need a bigger boat: It's JAWSFEST all this weekend on Martha's Vineyard. There's a slew of events, including an outdoor screening of Jaws—that you can —a collection of private photos and memorabilia from the film, and more.

Rhode Island

Weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely on Saturday; some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a high near 76 and low around 67 at night. A chance of showers on Sunday, partly sunny with a high near 79 and low around 65 at night. 

Let's get together and feel all right: Relax with a full day of roots reggae, ska, rocksteady, dancehall and more at the . This year’s lineup includes world-renowned artists Barrington Levy, Junior Marvin of Bob Marley’s Wailers, Bushman, Taj Weekes & Adowa, and Mighty Mystic & The Thunder Band. Newport’s favorite homegrown reggae band, The Ravers, will kick it off early with a free performance outside the gates before the main event. Flexible general admission allows concert-goers to come and go as they please. Tickets are $35-45, children under 12 free with an adult.

Seacoast New Hampshire

Newmarket 40th Olde Home Day & Oyster Festival: All day on Saturday (8 a.m.-11 p.m.) rain or shine, downtown Newmarket will be transformed into a vibrant festival that’s all about live music, craft beer, great local product and Great Bay oysters, with fireworks over the Lamprey River at dusk.
