Can you tell us a little about your background? How long have you been a teacher at St. John School?
I am from western Massachusetts, and I have two younger sisters, Nancy, and Caroline. This is my ninth year at St. John School.
What attracted you to teaching?
As a college student, I worked summers as a camp counselor. I enjoyed working with children and decided to study education.
What is most rewarding about being a teacher?
The most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing students have that “Ah ha” moment and understand a concept that they may have struggled with and seeing the growth from September to June.

What is one thing you wish someone had told you before you started your first day of teaching?
I wish someone had told me that I would learn from my students, and not just that they would learn from me.
How do you deal with different learners that are in your classroom?
I try to present the material in various ways. I utilize technology in the classroom. I also use games to help with students’ understanding of material.

What is the most challenging part of your job?
The most challenging part of teaching is the preparation work because it is so time consuming.
What is something your students have taught you?
My students have taught me different strategies with technology. They have shared different apps and other uses of the iPad.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I like to spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy running and spending time at the beach.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students do not know.
I like to run races.
If you could be one super hero, who would it be and why?
If I could be one super hero, I would be She-Ra, Princess of Power. I enjoyed watching the television show when I was younger.
