South End Patch Blogger To Cross Home Plate

Hope Shannon, South End Historical Society Executive Director and South End Patch blogger, will be participating in the Run-Walk to Home Base at Fenway Park, an event that supports veterans and their families.

On Sunday, May 20th, will support returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families by participating in the 3rd annual Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance. 

The event raises funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which provides clinical care to military service members, veterans and families who are affected by the “invisible wounds of war” – Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

The Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance starts and ends in historic Fenway Park with all runners crossing home plate at the finish line.  Approximately 3,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate, including 500 active duty military participants.

If you're interested in supporting Hope Shannon's run across home plate and the Home Base Program, you can donate on her Run To Home Base web page.  She has to meet a $1000 minimum fundraising requirement in order to participate in the Run-Walk to Home Base.
