PHOTOS: Neighborhood Association Raises Money For South End Students

The neighborhood association's annual silent auction was held last Thursday at Estragon.

The Blackstone/Franklin Square Neighborhood Association held its sixth annual Book Scholarship Fundraiser last Thursday, Feb. 23, at .

The event, which featured a silent auction with many items from local South End businesses, raised $14,700 – or about $7,000 more than it did last year.

The money raised provides $1,000 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors in the South End, to help pay for some of their first-semester college costs, other than tuition.

Boston City Councilor Felix G. Arroyo, state Rep. Byron Rushing and state Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz attended the event. donated the space and food, while and also provided food.
