MA Students Rank Fourth in the Nation in Advanced Placement Exam Scores
Bay State shows an increase of nearly 17 percent since 2003.
Massachusetts is ranked fourth in the nation in Advanced Placement exam scores for 2013 public high school graduates.
In a report released by the College Board, nearly 28 percent (27.9%) of high school graduates in the state scored 3 or higher on an AP Exam. This is up nearly 17 percent since 2003. Maryland, Connecticut and Virginia took the top three spots respectively. Advanced Placement Exams are scored on a 5-point scale.
According to the College Board, which administers the test, there has been a 7.9 point increase in the percentage of U.S. public high school graduates scoring a 3 or higher on an AP Exam since 2003. Seventeen states across the country exceed the national average.
