What Does It Mean?

Another week comes to a close, and perhaps you are reflecting on the week’s activities over morning coffee or an evening drink.

Perhaps you worked a full week only to find that 20, 30, or 40% of your compensation never made it to your pocket - not because you spent it, but because it was taken.  Perhaps you wondered why the government automatically takes it from you - do they not trust you to pay taxes on your own?  If they don’t, what does that mean?  Who are you really working for?

Perhaps you held a celebration with your family, but your mature children were not allowed to toast the occasion with alcoholic drinks - not because you forbade them, but because of the government’s laws.  What does this mean?  Do they think they are better parents than you?  If so, who makes decisions for your family? 

Perhaps you read the news about violent government raids against the peaceful use of “banned” substances, but you remembered that the US president admitted to doing the same?  What does this mean?  Who determines what you may do with your life?

Perhaps you had plans to make improvements to your home this weekend, but you were denied permission from the government to do so.  What does this mean?  Who really owns your property?

Perhaps you registered for the draft, and now you worry the government may forcibly send you somewhere to put your life on the line to further their political agenda? What does this mean? Who really owns your person?

Perhaps you voted this week, unwittingly legitimizing their actions and their system.  In a few months, they will forget their campaign promises, and you will be forced to continue to pay their taxes and follow their rules.  What does this mean?

Perhaps you wrote an article of difficult truths that many will not read, but you did it anyway…
