If Broncos Win, Paul Revere Statue Wears Tebow Jersey

Boston and Denver's mayors made a friendly wager on Saturday's Patriots playoff game.

If the Patriots lose Saturday night's playoff game against the Denver Broncos, Boston's Paul Revere statue must don a Tim Tebow jersey for 24 hours. That is just one part of a  and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.

If the Pats win, Hancock agreed to wear a No. 12 Tom Brady jersey to an upcoming public function. Hancock will also treat Menino to a Colorado steak dinner, and, on the flip side, Menino would treat Hancock to a New England lobster dinner.

But if the Broncos win on Saturday, one of Boston’s most famous patriots, Paul Revere, will have to wear a No. 15 Tim Tebow jersey. The Paul Revere statue in the North End would have to wear the jersey of the intensely-popular second-year quarterback.

“The Patriots have all the tools an NFL team needs to go all the way,” said Menino via press release. “I am confident in our team, and if the Patriots prevail, I will send Mayor Hancock a brand new Tom Brady jersey for his next public event, while I enjoy a fine steak dinner, his treat.”

Menino actually has an impressive record in these wagers, thanks to all four of Boston’s major sports teams (Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox) having won championships in the past decade. Like last year when the Bruins won, , among other items.
