Boston Mayor Martin Walsh is considering boycotting the 2014 St. Patrick's Day parade in South Boston if organizers don't allow gay and lesbian groups to participate, according to WBZ

Walsh told WBZ that a gay veterans group plans to submit an application for this year's parade, and the mayor is expected to meet with organizers on Thursday, according to the report.

Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino had previously refused to participate in the parade due to a 1995 decision from the U.S. Supreme Court that allowed organizers to exclude gay and lesbian groups from taking part in the parade, according to the report.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press has reported that New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has also said he's planning to boycott this year's parade in Manhattan because participating aren't allowed to carry signs or banners that identify them as gay.

The parade in South Boston is scheduled for Sunday, March 16. For more information, visit SouthBostonParade.org

The gay lifestyle is a sin Read your bible Romans 1:27 states "And the men, instead of having a normal sex relation with women, burned with lust for each other, men doing shameful things with other men and, as a result, getting paid their own souls with the penalty they richly deserved" We need to pray for those in any type of leadership that they make decisions based on Godly principals than our nation will once again begin to prosper. We need to have the guts to stand up for what is right according to the bible and give our future generations a better tomorrow Sin is sin and we need to call it as it is. God hates the sin but he loves the sinner and he shows it in His word over and over again by bringing correction so that they may one day be in heaven with Him. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Read Chapter 19 of Genesis) will He not bring judgement upon those who permit the very thing He hates. Parade or no parade, permitting the promotion of such things puts your stamp of approval on it and God will judge those that support it. We need to take a stand for what God believes and than once again our nation will become a blessed nation. Learn to read your bible when making comments instead of putting forth your own opinions What you say makes a great impression on others There is life and death in the tongue, so speak life. God bless you all.

KMK - I agree. Don't get me wrong, you won't see me at a Gay Pride Parade any time soon but that doesn't mean as a person, a conservative, I'm not getting tired of Gay people being treated like lepers. When you hear the term a lot, even in the news "Gay People" it's like you're hearing about these people outside the gates. Oooh, gay people.... We don't need any more outcasts. I judge people on the content of their character, how they treat you and others. That said I just don't think the Saint Patrick's Day Parade is the place to showcase gay sexual preferences, which should be private; as such things should be with all of us. Personally, I like Gay people, and for all the religious experts out there I'm also a Christian and Christ would not have made Gay people outcasts, he would not have condemned them what ever his views. He would sit with many people shunned or disliked by the larger society and he would tell them stories, parables if you will, as he did in the house of the hated tax collector in the Galilee - to the horror of his disciples.

Let gay people march. I've said it from the beginning of this debate. But let them march with the groups they represent, or as a group like all the other groups. Many of us know what MASS ADVOCACY is, there is no need to have any further display of sexual tendencies or behavior. If that's the goal, to show your tendencies or behavior, there is already a parade for that in this city! There is a great column in today's Herald. If the only reason gays want to march is to flaunt their sexuality, then they shouldn't be allowed to. That's not what this parade is. If they can march under their banner, and just have fun with the occasion, then they should be allowed. It's my opinion that 95% of gay people are GREAT people, But there is a loud and arrogant 5% that want to shock people and draw attention to themselves. And they are the ones that could ruin this parade for everyone else. http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/columnists/joe_fitzgerald/2014/03/parade_s_true_colors_must_not_be_lost_in_the_shuffle
