Woman Charged in Fatal South End Hit-and-Run

One woman is dead after a hit-and-run accident in the South End on Thursday night.

A 21-year-old Dorchester woman is currently in custody after fatally striking a pedestrian with her car on Thursday evening in the South End. 

Christina Martinez, of Dorchester, was charged with motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. 

Police have not released the name or details about the victim.

Police said the accident occurred in the area of Northampton Street and Washington Street in the South End around 9 p.m. on Thursday night. Police were called to the scene for a woman who had been struck by a car. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. 

Police allege Martinez, who was driving a grey Toyota Corolla, hit and struck the female victim and the left the scene of the accident.

Martinez was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Friday morning on charges of motor vehicle homicide, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and operating a motor vehicle without a license (outside of glasses restriction), and issued her a Massachusetts Uniform Citation. Her car has been impounded, police said.
