The man wanted by police for allegedly murdering 33-year-old Raymond Lemar on a South End street corner in August was located Tuesday in a Texas trailer park, police announced.
28-year-old Anthony Thames was found hiding out in a trailer park in Conroe, Texas, officers said. The warrant for his arrest includes charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Police say Thames is responsible for shooting Lemar, who was found early in the morning on August 6 near the intersection of East Berkeley and Harrison Avenue. Lemar was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Tuesday, Police Commissioner Edward Davis commended the Fugutive Unit and homicide investigators for their "dogged pursuit of justice."
“Let this be a lesson to any suspect who attempts to avoid capture: our efforts to hold you accountable will not be deterred by any amount of distance or time," he said.
Thames is expected to appear in a Texas courtroom where he will face the extradition process.
