Police: Man Shot to Death in Blackstone Square Sunday Night

The fatal shooting is under investigation, according to police.

A 21-year-old man was shot to death in Blackstone Square at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Boston Police.

The man was shot once in the face, a police officer on scene told the Boston Globe. He was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

At about 11 p.m. Sunday, the man’s body was still near the center of the park, between a fountain and a swing set, according to the Globe report.

Police have the fatal shooting occurring at 423 Shawmut Ave., an address across the street from the park. However, multiple Twitter reports have the shooting actually in Blackstone Square.

Twitter reports had a number of police cruisers on scene soon after the incident and later into the night.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
