Police: Woman Hit by Man Throwing Eggs in the South End

A man wielding eggs was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

A woman was egged in the South End, according to police. 

Boston Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at the Parish Café at 493 Massachusetts Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.

Officers arrived and talked to the victim, who said she was sitting in the outside patio of the bar, eating lunch with a friend when a man ran up and smashed two raw eggs in her face for unknown reasons, then took off on foot to Tremont Street towards Northampton Street.

Officers noted the egg on her shirt, face and dress. Officers put out a description of the suspect. Officers found a man matching the provided description at 618 Shawmut Avenue. The victim was transported to identify the suspect.

Once the victim identified the suspect, officers arrested Anthony Sharpe of 47 Warwick Street, Roxbury and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
