Police: Suspect Shot and Killed After Foot Chase on Dartmouth Street

Boston Police fatally shot a suspect after a traffic stop lead to a foot chase in the area of 130 Dartmouth Street on Tuesday evening, according to police. 

According to a statement, police said a suspect was pulled over at 5:30 p.m. when he pulled a gun on officers and began to flee on foot.

Police said one of the two pursuing officers fired one shot, hitting the suspect in the chest. He was pronouced dead at Boston Medical Center. 

Two Boston police officers were taken to the hospital for an evaluation. 

Police would not comment on why the suspect was pulled over.

"The reports we have at this point in time is the suspect produced a firearm, he was ordered to drop the firearm and refused to do so. The officers fired one shot. The suspect was struck in the chest," Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said.

Boston Police have begun an investigation into the incident which involves video of the area from street security cameras. 

"The investigation is unfolding at this time," said Commissioner Davis. "I don't have any more information other than that," he said.
