Mass. State Trooper Delivers Sharon Couple's Baby at Charles Circle in Boston

State Trooper Michael Close delivered a baby girl early Friday morning.

A Massachusetts State Trooper helped deliver the baby of a Sharon couple in their vehicle near Massachusetts General Hospital early Friday morning.

State Trooper Michael Close, who had been working a paid detail at Charles Circle in Boston, responded to a Toyota Highlander that pulled into the detail area around 5:15 a.m. The occupants of the vehicle had signaled they needed help, according to an announcement from Massachusetts State Police Friday.

Close realized that the female passenger of the vehicle was in labor and that the baby had been crowning. He then grabbed a medical mag, towels and blankets from his cruiser and delivered the baby girl, state police said.
