Man Allegedly Kidnaps Med Student, Leads Cops on Foot Chase

A man has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping a medical student on Waltham Street.

Boston police arrested a man they say stole a car in the South End, kidnapping a female medical student on Waltham Street, reported the Boston Globe.

The man drove down South End streets and crashed his van, eventually captured by police after a foot chase. The 29-year-old medical student was reportedly on her way to visit her boyfriend when a man grabbed her by her hair and pulled her into the van this afternoon, said the Globe. A civilian called to report it to police. Joel Cartagena, 36, of Woburn, has been arrested and will be arraigned on kidnapping, assault and carjacking charges, the Globe reported.
