Hernandez May Be Connected to South End Double Homicide

Boston Police are investigating a possible connection between Aaron Hernandez and an unsolved double murder in the South End from July of 2012.

Boston Police are investigating former Patriots' player Aaron Hernandez for a possible connection to a double homicide in the South End that occurred in July of 2012, according to 7News

However, a police spokeswoman told Patch on Thursday afternoon that police could not comment on any pending investigations.

The unsolved homicide occurred on July 16, 2012, according to police. Police said a gray SUV with Rhode Island plates pulled up to a silver BMW at the intersection of Shawmut Avenue, Tremont Street and Herald Street around 2:30 a.m. and opened fire, leaving two dead and one hospitalized.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office said the two deaths, Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreau, 29, and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, 28 remain the subject of an open and active investigation by Suffolk prosecutors and Boston police detectives.

"No one has been charged at this time and, as is the case in all such investigations, no suspects or persons of interest are being named in the absence of criminal charges," said spokesperson Jake Wark in an e-mail.  "Investigators will follow every lead and rule out no possibility.  In almost every violent crime, someone out there knows exactly what transpired and exactly who is responsible – investigators believe this to be true in these two homicides, and we urge that person or those persons to share their knowledge with Boston Police homicide detectives at 617-343-4470."
