You can download the new app on both Android and iOS devices.

South End residents can now access Boston Public Library’s card catalog right from their cell phones with the launch of a new, free mobile application.

Available on Android and iOS mobile devices, the “Boston Public Library Mobile Catalog” app allows library patrons to search the library’s shelves for titles to find out which Boston Public Library location currently has the item, place items on hold, browse the latest additions to the library’s collection, link up to OverDrive to borrow e-books, view library hours and fines, write reviews and other actions, according to a statement released Thursday by the Boston Public Library.

“We are thrilled to now offer a mobile catalog; it is a valuable resource and option that allows our collections to be easily accessible to our library users anytime, anywhere,” Boston Public Library President Amy E. Ryan said.

The app is available for free downloading at the iTunes App Store and on Google Play (search for “Boston Public Library”). A link to the app can also be found on the Boston Public Library website under the collections tab, marked "Mobile Catalog.”
