Jeff Ross Talks about Importance of Animal Adoption & Praises Efforts of Local Animal Advocates

Long-time community activist and City Council At-Large candidate Jeff Ross met with neighbors at a Jamaica Plain house party this week and spoke about the important work done by animal rescue shelters and advocate groups across the city.  Ross noted that he understands the importance of these groups first hand because he adopted his own cat, Piccolino, just a year ago after he saw the cat starving on the streets. Ross contacted the ASPCA when he found the cat and later adopted him. Piccolino is now healthy and is often out and about in the neighborhood.

"When I found him, Piccolino was starving and close to death, living on the streets. I'm lucky that I was in a position to help him and give him a loving home." says Ross. "Groups like the Animal Rescue League of Boston and the Angel Animal Medical Centers do such great work to make sure that animals are taken care of across the city. These community gems need to be supported, and I think it’s important to shine a light on to the work that they do to keep animals safe across the city."

The Animal Rescue League of Boston has begun its summer Rachel Ray Challenge of "1,200 in 12 weeks", in an attempt to win critical grant money to fund their life-saving services. Ross supports the League's efforts and encourages everyone who can to assist the organization's efforts by visiting the challenge’s website and participating by the August 31st deadline.

"Animal protection is important to me both personally and from a community perspective. As a City Councilor, I will continue to support animal rescue shelters; it’s important to highlight their important work and call attention to initiatives that can place animals in loving homes” said Ross. “I encourage Bostonians to support the resources of shelters like the Animal Rescue League through volunteering, donating, and adopting pets if they are in a position to do so."

Jeff Ross is running for Boston City Council At-Large. Election Day is September 24th and November 5th. For more information about Jeff please visit his website at www.JeffRossBoston.com
