From the Editor: Thank You and Goodbye

Today is my last day as editor of South End Patch.

Dear Readers,

As many of you already know, this is my last day as editor of South End Patch. I've accepted a position at Simmons College where I will be writing and editing news for their alumni magazine and other publications.

Before I leave, I wanted to take a minute to thank you, the reader, for your unbelievable support this past year. South End Patch has come a long way in a short time and I couldn't have done it without your news tips, feedback and creative suggestions.

Just a few weeks ago, I stood outside polling places asking voters who they chose in the municipal election. After each interview, I offered my standard Patch plug, urging residents to "check out the site!" It was something I'd done the year before, when the site was barely a month old, and I expected a few blank stares.

Instead, I was blown away by how many of you read Patch on a daily basis and have come to rely on it for local information. Not a single person looked at me like I was crazy.

I hope you'll continue to read Patch and keep up to date with local news. I'll still be checking in from time to time and of course, I'm still a South End resident. If you see me on the street, say hello.

Guest editor John Waller will make sure Patch keeps covering what matters to you in the coming weeks until a new editor steps in. Please send him your story ideas: johndwaller (at) gmail.com.

Thanks again everyone,

Alix
