On the Back Burner (or just another way to be kind to yourself!)

What are the items you can't ever cross off your To Do list? You intend to get to them, but inevitably, repeatedly, you transfer them from today's list to tomorrow's, and then tomorrow's, and then the day's after that. Those things left undone take on a life of their own, and it may feel like they are even taunting you from lowest rung on the ladder of your things to do. The end of the day may feel unaccomplished, and the next day is discouraging, because you know those undone things will remain, yet again, undone. 

I believe we are smarter than that. I do not believe that we are the things we call ourselves, words such as "slacker," "lazy," "disorganized." It's not true that we just "couldn't get our acts together."  Perhaps those things aren't getting done because they just aren't worth the time that it takes, or because their imagined purposes are no longer of service.

Liberate yourself from the criticism and the To Do list cloud hanging over your head; you do a lot in a day - so much more than what is asked of you! What if you gave voice to those accomplishments, and put away the pots that sit on the back burner? Put them in the cabinet, and if you truly need them, they will be there.
