Things to Know in the South End Today, Sept. 25: Boston School Choice Options
Here are five things going on in the South End and in Boston today.
1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts a warm, sunny day with a high of 72 degrees. Clouds may roll in and a shower might hit after 3 p.m. Temperatures will drop to about 58 degrees overnight.
2. Global Conversations Webinar: "Chocolate & Sustainability" with Taza Chocolate and Equal Exchange: Alex Whitmore, Founder of Taza Chocolate , and Jonathan Rosenthal, Co-founder of Equal Exchange, discuss the joys of chocolate and the environmentally and socially conscious practices that they follow to produce a better bar and a healthier planet at 1 p.m. at 11 Arlington St.
3. Bank of America Homeowner Event: Bank of America is hosting a free, three-day homeowner assistance event at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Bank of America specialists to review their full financial situation and alternatives to foreclosure, such as a loan modification or short sale, with the goal of walking away with a decision about their mortgage.

4. Author Talk at South End Library: Author L. Annette Binder will read at the South End Library today at 6:30 p.m. from her award-winning short-story collection, Rise. And Stephen Davis, who wrote the unauthorized biography of Carly Simon, has been rescheduled for a reading on Tuesday, November 1. You can read more about the South End Writes series here.
5. Attention Parents: Five plans were presented by the Boston Public School Department last night that would significantly alter which Boston Public Schools South End students would attend. Find out more about the proposed plans here.
