South End Today, Sept. 5: Eight Streets Neighborhood Meeting

Here are five things going on in and around the South End today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts that tomorrow will be cloudy and rainy with a chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures will reach a high of 77 degrees. Rain will persist into the evening with a low of 67 degrees.

2. Eight Streets Meeting - The Eight Streets Neighborhood Association is holding its month business meeting tonight at the  (19 Clarendon St.) at 6:30 p.m. On the agenda is requesnt from 257 Shawmut to change occupancy from 4 units to 5 units.

3. Reading Readiness: The Boston Public Library is offering a free course for children ages 3 to 5. Explore the concepts of teaching a child to read through numbers, music, shapes, color and sizes from 3 to 3:30 p.m.

4. Boston Ballet Open House: The Boston Ballet School is offering a free workshop hosted by new and returning faculty.  At 5 p.m., a classical ballet program will be offered for placement purposes. This event starts at 4:30 and goes until 6 p.m. 

5. Attention Fashionistas: It's almost time for the annual celebration of fashion and shopping in Back Bay and the South End. See what The Shops at the Prudential have in store for , which starts on September 6. .
