Community Corner

Performathon 2013

Saturday, November 23rd marks the 24th annual Performathon at Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB). Since 1990, the Performathon has been Community Music Center of Boston's signature, all-school grassroots event to raise funds for CMCB’s student financial aid fund.  The event advocates a unique model of fundraising: students helping other students.

Performathon will feature more than 400 student performers in an all-day marathon of mini-recitals on all instruments and all styles of music.  Each mini-recital will start on the hour, beginning at 10:00am and the last starting at 5:00pm.  Students of all ages will perform throughout the day, raising donations for CMCB’s financial aid fund. This fund is an important cornerstone of the organization, awarding over $200,000 in aid annually. Boston Private Bank & Trust Company is the lead sponsor of this year’s event.

Community Music Center of Boston invites the community to experience Performathon, either in person or live online at www.cmcb.org. Whether you like Rachmaninoff or rock, there is music everyone will enjoy!
