What Got You Talking This Week: Trash Pilot Program

Effective trash removal was a hot topic in the South End this week.

Hot topics in the South End this week included news of the revised trash pilot program that has been in place on some streets since March.

Residents talked trash on South End Trash Pilot Program Working, Could Be Expanded, both complaining about the idea of limiting trash times, and asking for solutions to the neighborhood's trash problems.

"The historic South End is a mess. We need much more than another conversation; we need some effective solutions," wrote Barry L. Adams.

Commenter NorthGuy suggested a centralized system in the South End as they have in Europe.

"Instead of street pickup, I'd rather see a centralized drop off point in some parts of the South End, as is done in dense urban areas in many other countries. In parts of some German cities, for example, there drop off bins for trash and recycling that typically aren't more than a 2-300 foot walk of all residences in the neighborhoods with this system."
