Things to Know in the South End Today, Oct. 23: Election Panel at United South End Settlements

Here are five things going on in the South End and nearby today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts a warm day with a high in the low 60s. The evening will cloud over and there will be a 40 percent chance of rain with a low in the upper 40s.

2. Panel Discussion: Head to the United South End Settlements (566 Columbus Ave.) at 8 p.m. tonight for a panel discussion on how issues of race and gender have intersected during the course of the 2012 election season. This forum will go beyond the talking points to explore how race and gender have shaped the campaign strategies of the presidential candidates and informed their public policies. 3. Cars and Climate Change: The New England Aquarium is hosting a free lecture on cars and climate change from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today.

4. Get Stronger: Every Tuesday, Integrated Mind & Body (304 Columbus Ave.) offers a "Better Bones and Balance" class at 10 a.m. The class focuses on building total body strength and improving your balance at the same time. See here for more details.
