Things to Know: Aug. 8: Pictures and Storytelling at Coco Baby

1. Possible Storms: The National Weather Service is predicting an ugly weekend, starting Thursday afternoon. Thursday morning should be partly sunny with a high of 88 degrees, but showers with a chance of thunderstorms are predicted for the afternoon and the evening. 

2. Meet the Celtics: Celtics players, legends, Lucky, members of the Celtics Dancers, Lil’ Phunk will all be on hand for special cocktail reception to benefit the Celtics Shamrock Foundation at Boston’s Children’s Museum (308 Congress St.) tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will include live music, food, raffles and a silent auction featuring unique items and experiences.  There will also be a roundtable discussion featuring members of the Celtics team and legends, hosted by Greg Dickerson from Comcast Sports Net New England. General admission is $120, which includes a complimentary 2-hour cocktail tasting, passed appetizers, live music, entertainment, and Boston Celtics celebrities.

 3. Neighborhood Nights: Magical Journey:  invites you to come and explore art from Egypt, China, Japan and Spain in a scavenger hunt to discover fascinating stories and art from around the world for free at 5 p.m.

4. For Children and Parents: Dr. Jack Maypole of South End Community Health comes to  (1636 Washington St.)  to celebrate National Health Center week today from 4-6 p.m. He'll be drawing pictures and telling stories with children. Raffles, prizes and refreshments will be on hand.

5. Tito Puentes Summer Series “Marcus Santos and Mike Ringquist, AfroBrazilian Ensemble:" Come down to the O’Day Playground, 8 W Newton St, South End for the seventh annual Latin concert series. This is high-energy music for the dancing and celebrating crowd. The show is free and starts at 7 p.m.
