Round-up: Halloween in the South End

From trick-or-treat parades to adult parties, there's something for everyone this weekend and beyond.

Halloween is officially Monday but costume parties and pumpkin contests have taken over the weekend as well. See our full list of Halloween-related events below and add yours in the comments.

Friday, October 28

Nightmare on Stanhope Street: Devils & Angels, 9:30pm-2am. Join the owners of The Brahmin and Zocalo for a Halloween fête. Dance the night away to DJs at both venues and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, themed cocktails, endless candy and costume contest. Advanced tickets are available for a $20 donation to Children’s Hospital Boston, and tickets will be available at the door for $25.

Saturday, October 29

, Blackstone Square, 12-4pm. This Halloween Festival features events for the whole family: pumpkin decorating, face painting and treat bags for children, food trucks and a beer garden at for adults. The Blackstone/Franklin Square Neighborhood Association will also be hosting its at the square from 10-2pm.

Spooky Saturday at Bark Place, 12-4pm. Stop by the Washington Street shop for pet games and treats for both you and your pet. Costumes are optional (but encouraged).

Halloween Open House at Coco Baby, 11am-4pm. The South End's will be hosting a Halloween open house on Saturday and Sunday. The downstairs play space will be decked out with spooky activities for the kids.

Spooks R Us, , 2pm. A spooky and kooky children's concert for children ages 0-8. Dress your little ones in their finest constumes for a chance to win prizes for the most creative, cute and spook-tacular outfits. (Enter at 537 Tremont Street for stroller access to the B-Basement level.)

Chandler Street Halloween Party, corner of Chandler and Clarendon St., 4pm. The Ellis South End Neighborhood Association is having a Halloween Party with fun and entertainment for ghosts and goblins of all ages. Highlights include music by Charles Young, face painting, a magician, refreshments from , custome contest with a prize from and a free raffle with a prize from . Rain date is Sunday.

Halloween Tea Dance, Club Cafe, 4pm. Come in costume and enter to win one of $450 in prizes. No cover, free Back2Basics Tea Dance CDs by DJ Harrison for the first 30 to arrive in costume.  

Sunday, October 30

SoWa Market of the Living Dead, 10am-4pm. It's the last SoWa Open Market of the season and also the spookiest: 120 artists and designers, food trucks, free treats and a costume contest. Dress as your most disturbing zombie for a chance to win up to $250 in cash prizes. Judging for the contest begins at 2pm. (Take a look at last year's costume winner here.)

Monday, October 31

, , 4:30pm. Join your friends and neighbors for some spooky family fun sponsored by the Friends of Ringgold Park and the Friends of Peters Park. Bring a savory treat to share and join us as we parade up Shawmut Avenue back to our historic trick-or-treating route up Waltham and Hanson Streets around 6 p.m.

, 5pm. Head to for a pre-trick-or-treat Halloween Party featuring spooky stories told by South End author Irene Smalls, a costume contest, pizza for kids and cider and snacks. 

Pilot Block Neighborhood Association Halloween, 6-7:30 p.m. Pilot Block residents: sit on your steps and watch the costumes go by, hand out candy and decorate a pumpkin for entry into the Pilot Block Neighborhood Association Pumpkin Contest. There'll be prizes for the scariest, funniest and best design. A separate pumpkin decorating contest will be held for kids under 12. All you have to do is place your pumpkin on your stoop to enter.
