Halloween Events in the South End Neighborhood

From trick-or-treat parades to adult parties to dog costume contests there's something for everyone to enjoy in the South End this Halloween.

Halloween is officially Wednesday but costume parties and pumpkin contests have taken over the weekend as well. See our list of Halloween-related events in the South End and add yours to the events calendar.

Saturday, October 27

Halloween Festival
12-4pm. Blackstone Square

This Halloween festival features events for the whole family: pumpkin decorating, face painting and treat bags for children, food trucks and a beer garden at Stella Restaurant for adults. At 1 p.m., there's a costume contest for dogs by Bark Place. Live music will be performed by The Pennies and Kina Zore. Food trucks on hand will be: Bon Me, Go Fish, Cookie Monstah, Roxy's Grilled Cheese and Chubbie Dogs. 

Halloween Jam
2 p.m. Community Music Center of Boston (34 Warren Ave.) 

A spooky and kooky children's concert for children ages 0-8. Dress your little ones in their finest constumes for a chance to win prizes for the most creative, cute and spook-tacular outfits. (Enter at 537 Tremont Street for stroller access to the B-Basement level.)

Nightmare on West Newton St.
9 pm. - 2 a.m. Villa Victoria Center for the Arts (85 W. Newton St.)
Head to the GOTO Boston Halloween event for an open bar, a DJ, an dancing, all to benefit Giving Opportunities To Others. All ticket proceeds will go to support GOTO's mission of sending deserving middle school students to arts camp this summer. Tickets are $85 each, and you can buy them here

Sunday, October 28

SoWa Market of the Living Dead
10am-4pm. South Washington Open Market (500 Harrison Ave.)
It's the last SoWa Open Market of the season and also the spookiest: 130 artists and designers, food trucks, free treats and a costume contest. Dress as your most disturbing zombie for a chance to win up to $250 in cash prizes. Judging for the contest begins at 2pm.

Chandler Street Halloween Party
4 - 6:30 p.m. Tadpole (58 Clarendon St.) 
Tadpole, along with the Appleton Cafe and the Ellis South End Neighborhood Association, will once again be sponsoring the annual Chandler Street Halloween Party. Join for tricks, treats, music, food, prizes, a magician, face painting, balloon animals, a bouncy house and more! Stay till the end for trick or treating.

Halloween Tea Dance
5 - 10 p.m. Club Cafe (209 Columbus Ave.)
Come in costume and enter to win one of $450 in prizes. No cover, free Back2Basics Tea Dance CDs by DJ Harrison for the first 30 to arrive in costume.  

Tuesday, October 30 

The Night Before Halloween Dinner
5:30 p.m. The Beehive Restaurant, (541 Tremont St.)
Celebrate Halloween Eve with sustainable seafood and live jazz at The Beehive. Served alongside The Beehive’s regular menu, the four course, prix-fixe menu was designed by Executive Chef Rebecca Newell and the experts at the New England Aquarium as a way to raise awareness of the challenges facing the oceans as well as the benefits of sustainable seafood. See here for the menu. Cost is $65/person. 

Wednesday, October 31

Ringgold Halloween Party
4:30 to 6 p.m., Ringold Park
 
Enjoy a potluck of savory refreshments and grab a glow stick before parading out of the park for trick-or-treating along adjacent streets. Please bring something savory to share and join in the fun.

Pre-Trick-or-Treat Halloween Party
5 p.m. Titus Sparrow Park
Head to Titus Sparrow Park for a pre-trick-or-treat Halloween Party featuring roove to the fun music of Ben Rudnick and Friends, a costume contest, pizza for kids and cider and snacks donated by Foodie's. 

Celebrate Halloween at the Salty Pig
6-8 p.m., 130 Dartmouth St
All are welcomed to celebrate Halloween with The Salty Pig in their own swine-like style with a costume contest and complimentary ghoulish treats. Get into the spirit with The Salty Pig crew by dressing up as your favorite farm animal!  Winner receives a dinner for two at the restaurant.Executive Chef Kevin O’Donnell created special salty treats including caramel bacon popcorn, blood sausage, and crispy pigskins, and creepy cocktails like Blood Punch (also known as a delicious Fall Sangria) will be available for all those brave enough to sample.
