Five Things, Including a Second Pot Luck Rain Date

Here are five things going on in and around town.

1. Pleasant Day: After some early morning fog, The National Weather Service predicts a partly sunny day with a high near 89. The evening will cloud over and the temperature will drop to 69.

2. One more delay: It seems like the weather gods aren't fans of this year's pot luck dinner at Franklin Square. The event was rained out for a second time, but the Friends of Franklin and Blackstone Squares have rescheduled again. Drop by Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. for family-style dinner and fun.

3.MFA Concert Series in the Courtyard: Patty Larkin channels the traditional folk melodies with urban and pop hooks that spun off the singer/songwriters of the seventies.

4. The American Red Cross Blood Driver at the Museum of Science: The American Red Cross has an emergency need for blood and platelet donors of all blood types! The month of June saw a decrease in donations by 10 percent across the country. Come out to the MOS from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and donate. Donors will receive a free container of SunBrew Iced Tea and a free Museum Hall Pass.

5. Zombie Double Feature: The end of the world as we know it is upon us and a few luck people seek shelter in the Boston Playwrights’ Theater. Midnight at the Last Cabaret has the good people wondering if all this imminent doom is a hoax or reality. Terror and BPT takes place months after the undead have ravaged humanity. This show costs $20 and viewers are warned that adult language, blood and gore and zombie dance breaks may make this show inappropriate for those under 17.
