Five Things: El Centro Opens Today

1. Has summer arrived? Temps are expected to reach the lower 80s today with partly sunny skies and winds around 10 mph.

2. Mexican restaurant will be opening its doors for dinner tonight at the corner of Shawmut Ave. and West Concord St. We got a sneak peak at the menu and here's what we found: Shrimps wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese served with rice and salad with avocado, Tortilla soup with chicken and avocado and Charcoal grilled corn on the cob topped with Romano cheese.

3. This Memorial Day, head to the Museum of Fine Arts and receive free admission all day! The Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Click here for more info.

5. What would happen to Boston if there were an alien invasion that obliterated most of the Earth's population? You can find out next month when Falling Skies, a new TV show, airs on TNT. The show is set in Massachusetts after aliens attack the planet -- and a state militia forms to protect and mobilize the local survivors. The blog "Hollywood East" reports the show was not, in fact, filmed here, but will, in fact, feature bad Boston accents and standard New England cliches. You can watch the trailer on the TNT web site. It looks kind of good, if you like sci-fi. Oh, and the show was co-conceived by Steven Spielberg.
