Comedian, Paul Reiser, Headlines National Braille Press' "A Million Laughs for Literacy" Gala Friday November 1st

WHAT: A Million Laughs for Literacy is a gala dinner and live auction to support National Braille Press’ literacy initiative for blind children. . The dinner program will include a comedic performance by Paul Reiser, the presentation of the 9th annual Hands On! Award, and a series of live auction items. This year’s Hands On! recipient is Karen Keninger, Director of the National Library Service for the Blind and Handicapped (NLS), Library of Congress. Karen Keninger is the first blind person to direct this agency in its 80 year history. NLS provides free materials in braille and audio to blind and visually impaired people in the U.S.. Jay Hooley, Chairman, President and CEO of State Street Corporation, will receive the President’s Award for his longstanding support of the National Braille Press and its mission to promote literacy for blind children. 

 This year, the A Million Laughs for Literacy gala will feature a live and silent auction with exciting trips and gifts. Want to meet television star, model and actress Jenny McCarthy who is currently a co host on The View on ABC?  If you have the winning bid on this live auction item, you and a guest will be flown to New York City to have dinner with Jenny and spend the night in one of NYC’s finest hotels. NBP will also be auctioning a wildlife adventure to South Africa where you and a guest will stay at the world famous Ezulwini Game Lodge for 6 days/5 nights and explore the magnificent nature and exotic animals of South Africa. For sports fans, NBP will be offering a night of luxury for you and 14 of your friends at a 2013/2014 regular season Celtics or Bruins game in a private suite at the TD Garden.
