After successful Boston debut Haystack founder and CEO announces contest winner who chooses cash over Fiat

Last week, a brand new technology created by Haystack Mobile Technologies launched in Boston and captured the attention of drivers across the city with thousands of downloads. As part of the exciting launch, every Boston driver who registered for Haystack up until Tuesday, July 22 was entered to win a grand prize, with loyal Haystackers receiving an additional entry for each spot they offered on the mobile app.

This afternoon in front of the backdrop of the Liberty Hotel, Eric Meyer, founder and CEO of Haystack, presented Michael Cuozzo from the North End with the grand prize. 28-year-old Cuozzo, who was selected at random, has been using Haystack successfully for the past few days to offer and exchange spots around the city and opted for the cash prize, equivalent of five thousand dollars.

"I just started using Haystack and think it's great,” said Cuozzo. “I commute to and from Norwood every day for work and I live in the North End so it's typically very hard to find a spot when I get back to the city. I would usually spend 15-20 minutes driving around for a spot and if I couldn't find one, park it in a lot which could cost $30 a night. With Haystack, I can drive directly to an available spot and pay much less!"

“Haystack Boston is off to an impressive start, with thousands of downloads so far and exchanges ramping up each day,” said Eric Meyer. “We are excited to present one lucky Haystacker with this prize, and wish all Haystackers continued success in their parking endeavors!”

Bostonians know better than most the trials and tribulations of finding a parking spot in a bustling city, and Meyer set out with the intention of providing a tenable solution to ease this pain. Haystack has already connected hundreds of drivers around the city via the mobile app to nearby neighbors, helping them secure or exchange a parking space in real-time. The only question that remains is, where to next?

“Now that we are fully operating in both Baltimore, MD and Boston, we look forward to bringing this innovative parking solution to frustrated drivers in other cities in the near future,” said Meyer.

About Haystack Mobile Technologies

Haystack was created in 2014 by residents of the Canton neighborhood in Baltimore, MD, in an effort to solve the city’s parking issues. Haystack is a mobile app and smart parking system that allows neighbors to alert each other to open parking spaces in real time, reducing the amount of time wasted circling the neighborhood and reducing emissions from circling cars entering our environment.
