In a difficult economy, businesses come and go all the time. Tell us which ones you were sad to see go in the comments section below.

It was another year of welcomes and farewells for South End businesses.

In the South End restaurant scene, several places have closed to make way for new businesses.

Noche, a Latin American restaurant on Appleton Street, closed in September. It had opened in 2010. The restaurant group behind Noche, Boston Nightlife Ventures, announced it will open a new restaurant at 3 Appleton Street in spring 2013.

The Columbus Cafe bar and restaurant on Columbus Avenue closed in July, making way for Five Horses Tavern to open sometime soon in the new space. The neighborhood spot opened in late 2005 and closed mid-year in 2012.

And Don Ricardo's, after eight years of dishing out Peruvian and Brazilian food to the South End, officially closed in late 2011, making way for the Puerto Rican Vejigantes.
