New Women's Boutique Opens in South End

Meet owner Kristine Isberg and her a fine European lingerie shop located on Shawmut Ave.

If you're a fan of fine lingerie, Kristine Isberg and her women's boutique may not be new to you. Isberg opened up L'ecole Nuit as an online lingerie store last year, and has already built a following in the area through private parties and events designed to help women discover quality women's products.

But this week, Isberg finally has her own brick-and-mortar store: A small space on Shawmut Street in the South End.

"When I saw this space, I didn’t hesitate," she said. "I'm from Boston, I grew up here and I really feel like it’s a good fit for L'ecole Nuit.

L'ecole Nuit specializes in imported European lingerie - the type of products made of fine lace, satin, and quality you can't find here in the U.S., Isberg said.

"I only source designers who use real Calais lace, a very soft and 100 percent silk lace, so comfort and functionality to me are of utmost importance," Isberg said.

Isberg carries products from some large brands you may be familiar with, including Mimi Holiday, Lou Paris with price points depending on the item. Some sleepwear items can run as low as $30 with bras and panties starting at $50 to $80.

Isberg acknowledges her products are more pricey than your average Victoria Secret, but she said the fit, comfort and functionality usually shock her first time customers.

"If you get a woman to try it on, you don't have to explain the price," she said. "They are amazed at the difference and know right away this will last a long time."

Isberg said the idea for the store came from her combination of her art history and French background combined with her obsession with lingerie.
"I took all of these ideas together and came up with L'ecole Nuit," she said.

Isberg said she's looking to reach women who have a taste for quality and understands the value of fine materials looking for items that are pretty, feminine comfortable and functional.

"I really hope the women in the South End will find that I’m here," said Isberg. "They don’t have to go to Newbury Street anymore - there’s a quality women’s boutique right here in the South End."

If you're looking to get a look at the new store, Isberg is hosting a special event this Wednesday, July 17 at L'ecole Nuit (537 Shawmut Ave.) at 7 p.m. The night will feature champagne and the latest trends in lingerie, makeup and boudoir. A makeup specialist will be on hand to offer tricks and tips. See here to RSVP
