Hubway Passes 1 Million Rides
Boston's bicycle share service has been in operation since July 2011.

Boston’s popular citywide bicycle share program has cleared a major milestone in just two years of operation.
Hubway cleared 1 million rides over the weekend of July 13, according to a press release from the city of Boston.

More than 8,100 active members access the fleet of 1,100 bikes through the 113 station system which includes locations in Brookline, Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. To date, Hubway members have collectively traveled approximately 1.1 million miles, burned nearly 40 million calories and offset an estimated 285 tons of CO2. With over 41,000 rides flowing through its docks, more trips begin and end at South Station than any other. Hubway currently averages more than 3,800 trips per day, system-wide, and July 12, 2013 holds the record for the highest daily usage, with 5,216 trips taken.
