Five Horses Tavern to Open in South End This Weekend

According to Twitter, the new microbrew beer bar will be open by the weekend.

Since we first reported Five Horses Tavern would be opening a South End location on Columbus Avenue back in December, you've been patiently waiting for the expansion of the successful Davis Square craft beer bar into the South End.

It seems, dear South End beer lovers, that your time has arrived.

Five Horses Tavern tweeted from its South End account on Tuesday that it would be open for business by this weekend.

"Since @5HorsesTavern asked so nicely, we will officially open for business this weekend," they said.

The new bar and restaurant will reportedly be similar to its location in Davis Square, serving up to 90 microbrews and craft beers on tap and American comfort food, according to Boston food blog Eater. The renovated space will feature a dining room, bar, and outdoor patio, with accordion style windows that will open up completely during the warmer months.

The new restaurant takes the place of the former Columbus Cafe.

We'll be sitting down with the owners later this week to give you an idea of the beer and food menu, and ownership behind the place.
