Eight New Stories Added to the Award-winning Series Spotlighting Boston Visionaries

Last season, Boston Profiles gave viewers the opportunity to get to know some of Boston’s most effective and influential, yet unsung citizens – Ted Cutler, creator of the Outside the Box Music and Arts Festival and Deborah Jackson, president of Cambridge College, were among the people featured in season two of Boston Profiles. 

The newest season of Boston Profiles will allow viewers to get to know eight more visionaries who have uniquely impacted the lives of so many throughout Greater Boston.  Scott Mercer, Boston Profiles host and seasoned television personality, will lead the one-on-one discussions covering issues and topics affecting the Boston community.  Boston Profiles guests will also have an opportunity to share their personal and professional experiences that have influenced them along the way.

If you are interested in learning more about the individuals who have made significant contributions to the fabric of our city, watch Boston Profiles on Boston Neighborhood Network Television.  Boston Profiles can be seen every Tuesday at 9 PM, beginning June 10th on BNN’s News and Information [Comcast 9 | RCN 15].

Giovanni DeCunto grew up in Lawrence Massachusetts to become a talented and successful artist whose works hang on some of the most well-respected and notable walls in this country, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC and the George Bush Presidential Library.  Giovanni has painted everything from historical pieces to iconic figures, which have influenced and shaped cultures worldwide. Episode 3: Lino Delgado, President & Co-Founder, Floorlords Crew

Lino Delgado is the President & Co-Founder of the Floorlords crew.  With Lino at the helm, the Floorlords have played a significant role in the movement and growth of hip-hop culture for more than three decades.  The group has been instrumental in bringing the five elements of hip-hop culture to millions of fans and followers through television, films, and stage, as well as on the streets.  Notable on-screen appearances include hip-hop film classic, "Krush Groove", and national television program "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee".  Most recently, former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino honored the Floorlords during their 30th anniversary celebration by proclaiming June 25th, Floorlords Day, in the city of Boston.  (Encores: 6/26 - 10:30AM, 6/27 - 7PM, 6/29 - 9AM)

Episode 4: Dr. Roger Harris, Boston Renaissance Charter Public School

Dr. Roger F. Harris has devoted 38 years working with youth in Boston’s Public Schools.  He presently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Renaissance Foundation. He also serves as Superintendent of the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School.  Dr. Harris holds a B.A. from Boston University, Masters from UMass, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Boston College.  His role as a leader in the educational reform movement in Boston has earned him national and international recognition as an excellent urban educator, in addition to numerous civic and community awards.  (Encores: 7/3 - 10:30AM, 7/4 - 7PM, 7/6 - 9AM)

Episode 6: Shaumba-Yandje Dibinga, OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center Inc.

Shaumba-Yandje Dibinga is the Co-Founder & Artistic Director of OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center. OrigiNation is a non-profit cultural arts dance studio whose mission is to provide a safe haven for youth between the ages of 3-20.  Since 1994, Shaumba has been empowering youth to reach their full potential through self-esteem development, civic responsibility education, and cultural arts performance.  Through OrigiNation, Shaumba has positively impacted thousands of lives using dance, theater, and African history to build the inner-strength and self-esteem of young people throughout Boston and the world. Episode 7: Richard E. Ward, New England Center for Arts & Technology

Richard Ward is the Executive Director of the New England Center for Arts and Technology, an ambitious endeavor to create nonprofit collaboration between public and private partners for the development of practical job-themed education and training for adults and youth.  One theme that runs through Richard’s professional and personal activities is his commitment to young people, and he has served as a mentor as well as a seasoned and widely respected community mediator.  (Encores: 7/24 - 10:30AM, 7/25 - 7PM, 7/27 - 9AM)

Episode 8: Michael Spence, Mandarin Language Competitor
Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 9PM

Michael Spence placed second in the world, among teams representing 24 countries from across the globe, in the first annual "Chinese Bridge" World High School Student Chinese Contest - a challenge requiring students to demonstrate their Chinese language and culture skills- held in Jinan City (Shandong province) in China.  Spence, a native of Randolph Massachusetts, is currently a University of Southern California student majoring in business management.  (Encores: 7/31 - 10:30AM, 8/1 - 7PM, 8/3 - 9AM)
