MAGNERS TASTING
Where/When: , Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
Why Go: Magners is delicious. And we're not just saying that because we went to Austria when we were 19 and drank a whole lot of it. Okay, we are. But we've always had very discerning taste...

MEET DAVID RAKOFF, AUTHOR OF "HALF EMPTY"
Where/When: , Thursday, 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: As you might have guessed from the title of his latest collection of essays, Rakoff is a "half empty" kind of guy. We don't know about you, but we think a little negativity (or a lot, in Rakoff's case) can be refreshing once in a while. Especially when it's so well-written.
Pricing: Free

Greek Food Festival
Where/When: , Friday - Sunday
Why Go: Gyros, souvlaki, baklava. What more could you ask for? Some live music? Yeah, they've got that too. More info available here.
Pricing: Free

NIKOLAS METAXAS
Where/When: , Friday, 8 p.m.
Why Go: We've heard Metaxas's sound described as mixture of John Mayer and Jason Mraz, with a touch of Radiohead and Muse, and a hint of Incubus. And we're just as curious as you to find out what that actually sounds like. LYVA and Jet Black Sunrise support. Tickets available here.
Pricing: $10

SOUTH END OPEN STUDIOS
Where/When: Various buildings in the South End, Saturday - Sunday
Why Go: If something last 25 years, it must be worth a visit. Over 200 artists will be opening their studios to the public this weekend, don't leave them hanging. More info available here.
Pricing: Free

CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE JOHN HANCOCK TOWER
Where/When: , Saturday, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Why Go: 61 flights of stairs seem like nothing when you know you're helping raise funds for the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, right? More info available here.
Pricing: $35 to register
