Vincent Crotty's Boston Nocturnes

Irish-born, internationally known, Dorchester artist Vincent Crotty exhibits new work: Boston Nocturnes. This exhibit includes many small paintings of Boston neighborhoods in various moods. Having focused on the work of Atkinson Grimshaw for a long time, Crotty has put together a group of Nocturnes and twilight scenes of places such as Central Square, The North End, Dorchester, Fort Point Channel, and the South End—areas that have all played a large part in his 21 years in Boston.  Other works included in this show draw from his travels throughout Ireland and parts of the US. Crotty has a strong interest in continuing the Ashcan tradition of capturing the bustle of city life and bringing the plein air discipline to the streets.
